18–19 September 2025 – The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh

ree

If you’ve spent any time in the world of dog training, chances are you’ve come across the name Dr. Ian Dunbar. His work has been foundational in shaping modern, reward-based, relationship-centred training, and this September he’s heading back to the UK for what promises to be an unmissable two-day seminar.

Hosted by Dog and Bone at the purpose-built Kennel Club Building in Stoneleigh, this event is already circled in big red pen on my calendar. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a passionate enthusiast, the opportunity to learn directly from Ian Dunbar is something pretty special—and I wholeheartedly recommend grabbing a ticket while you can.

What to Expect

Day 1: Preventing and Accelerating the Resolution of Stress, Fear & ReactivityDr. Dunbar will dive into proactive ways to address anxiety, reactivity, and fear in dogs—starting with prevention in puppies and offering techniques to create real change in adult dogs. Expect insights into teaching foundational coping behaviours like “Sit-Stay-Watch” and “Shush” to help dogs navigate the world more calmly and confidently.

Day 2: The Nine Most Crucial Practical Concepts in Dog TrainingFrom positive reinforcement and transitioning away from food lures to real-life rewards and proofing for distraction, this day covers the core of what makes training both effective and sustainable. These principles aren’t just theory—they’re game-changers for real-world results.

Why You Should Go

Dr. Dunbar doesn’t just teach dog training—he’s shaped it. He founded the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and introduced the first off-lead puppy socialisation classes in the 1980s. His impact on the field is hard to overstate, and his seminars are always packed with both aha-moments and practical takeaways.

Plus, with friendly faces, complimentary refreshments, and CPD certification included, this is set to be a truly enriching couple of days. Dog and Bone events always have that rare mix of expert delivery and a genuinely welcoming, community-driven vibe.
